Dear Member,
 
As you are aware, tourism and hospitality is the worst affected sector due to the COVID -19 pandemic. Zero business during the last six months, negative cash flows, threats of insolvency and millions of jobs losses have devastated the sector completely and only some real relief measures from the Government can save this sector that is facing an existential crisis.
 
It is in this regard, we the FHRAI had facilitated a meeting with the Principal Economic Advisor (PEA), Ministry of Finance (MoF) in September 2020. Post our interaction and submission of our Prayers, the Ministry of Finance so graciously taken into consideration some of our concerns. However, it was communicated to the PEA through our various additional representations that the hospitality industry is still awaiting the support of the Government to come out of this biggest economic crisis we have ever faced.
 
FHRAI, taking the initiatives forward with the Ministry, and keeping in view that the unlocking process is getting unfolded, with industry coming back on track and gradually resuming operations proposed to organise an interaction with the Senior Officers of the Ministry.  Responding to our request, Shri. Tarun Bajaj, I.A.S. Secretary, Ministry of Finance (MoF) has consented to interact with the Hospitality Fraternity at 6.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 7th October 2020.
 
The Secretary will talk about Emerging Financial Crisis in the Hospitality Industry Post Covid -19 – Relief Measures by the Government and the Way Forward. Also, he will discuss the major steps taken by the Government to provide relief to the Hospitality sector from the devastating effects of Covid – 19.
