SUB: - INFORMATION REGARDING GRANTING OF ADDITIONAL TIME BY FSSAI TO THE FBOS TO ADOPT THE PRACTICE OF MENU LABELLING
Dear Member,
This is in furtherance to FHRAI circular dated 8th December 2021 with regard to enforcement of the provisions for ‘Display of information in food service establishments’ from 1st January 2022, as per the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations,2011.
In this regard, FHRAI had represented to the FSSAI, seeking further time for the hotels & restaurants for seamless implementation of the provisions of the Regulation.
We are very happy to inform you that acceding to our request, FSSAI vide its circular F. No. RCD-15001/6/2021 (attached for reference), has agreed to grant some additional time to the FBOs to adopt the practice of Menu Labelling in a self-compliant manner and NO sampling of the food items listed on the menu cards/boards/booklets by the FBOs shall be carried out to check/verify/ the respective declarations of calorific value and nutritional information till 30th June,2022.
FSSAI has also clarified that any non-compliance may be addressed by issuing improvement notice under Section 32 of the FSS Act, 2006 for further compliance.
