SUB: DEVELOPMENT OF KULARA ISLAND NEAR RANJIT SAGAR DAM AS A THEME BASED TOURIST DESTINATION

Dear Member,

We wish to inform that the Government of Punjab has plans to set up eco-tourism projects around Ranjit Sagar Lake in Pathankot district. The tourism projects will be set up in public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The government has identified Kulara Island, which is spread over 18 acres, as one of destinations that has potential to become a popular theme-based tourist destination. The government has invited bidders to develop facilities like Eco Resorts, Recreational greens, Adventure Sports centres, nature interpretation centres, visitor centres, awareness centres and other support facilities on Kulara Island.

Situated on the Pathankot-Dalhousie Road, Kulara Island offers some exciting tourism prospect because of its strategic location, being on the major highway and having proximity with major cities like Amritsar and Pathankot. The project has to be designed & planned according to the guidelines of ‘Punjab Eco Tourism Policy, 2009’. Accordingly, 20% of the land parcel at Kulara Island can be used for development of accommodation facilities like resort, cottage etc. An additional 5% land is reserved for building parking facility. However, NO permanent structure is allowed to be constructed.

• Draft Agreement
• Reply to pre-bid queries
• Detailed Project Report (DPR). The DPR pertains to 02 (two) sites (Site-1 & Site-2). The Site-2 is the project proposed for development.

The last date of submission of the bid is 22.11.2022. If any potential investor is interested in the project, they may contact the bid-facilitating agency (Resurgent India) to seek an appropriate extension from the Punjab Government.
