ADVISORY: Interaction with the CEO Niti Aayog - Passing on of the GST Benefit
Dear Member (s),
Please be informed, that the CEO, Niti Aayog, Government of India had called for a meeting with all Associations in the tourism industry including FHRAI, and travel bodies on October 22nd, 2019.
The Agenda of the meeting was to discuss the recent incentives announced for the Tourism sector and that the industry should demonstrate an action plan taking into account the positive changes made by the Government, especially the reduction in the GST, to support the hospitality industry.
The CEO, while interacting with the representatives, asked the tourism industry to pass on the GST benefit, and accordingly re-work the packages and prices for travel/ stay, as per the revised GST rates.
It was indicated by the CEO that the coming three months will be crucial for the Government in order to assess the quantum of growth, after implementing the revised GST rates, and also how much it has benefitted the tourism industry.
It is in this regard, we would like to convey to the Member (s) to kindly adhere to the compliances and extend the GST benefits accordingly, making India a cost competitive Tourist destination in comparison to other countries.
With kind regards,
Rahul Lall
Secretary General
