SUB: SUGGESTIONS ON COMPETITION IN DIGITAL MARKETS

Dear Member,

We wish to inform you that the Government of India has constituted a Committee on Digital Competition Law to review whether the existing provisions in the Competition Act 2002, and its rules & regulations are sufficient enough to deal with the challenges emerged from the digital economy.

The Committee will also examine the need for a regulatory mechanism for digital markets through a separate legislation and will take cognizance of International Best Practices on the subject matter.

The first meeting of the Committee on Digital Competition Law was held on 22nd February 2023 during which it was decided that the concerned stakeholders may also be called for making presentation and submissions before the Committee.

In this regard, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has invited FHRAI to make a presentation before the Committee on Digital Competition Law, on 4th March 2023.

We therefore request our members to share your valuable inputs on the topic of competition in digital markets to enable us to present before the Committee. Please share your inputs with Mr. Abhishek Kumar at asg@fhrai.com by Thursday, 2nd March 2023.
