Subject: FHRAI Delegation Meeting with Revenue Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Government of India
Dear Members,
This is to inform you that a high-level delegation of FHRAI, led by Mr. K. Syama Raju, President and comprising Mr. Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, Vice President and Mr. S.K. Hari Arumugam, EC Member, held an important meeting with Shri. Arvind Shrivastava, IAS, Revenue Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in New Delhi to discuss the rationalization of GST for the tourism and hospitality sector.
The delegation submitted key recommendations pivotal for the growth and competitiveness of our industry. These included:
- Introducing a uniform GST rate of 5% with Input Tax Credit (ITC) benefits across all hospitality and tourism-related services.
- Delinking GST on Food & Beverage (F&B) services from room tariffs.
- Regularization of past GST payments on an “as is” basis.
- Enhancing the threshold limit for hotel room tariffs attracting 18% GST from ₹7,500/- to ₹15,000/-.
- Recognition of Hotel Rooms as Plant & Machinery for ITC Eligibility.
The Revenue Secretary gave a positive response and agreed to consider FHRAI’s suggestions in the forthcoming GST Council meeting.
