Subject: Advisory from UIDAI for Adoption of Aadhaar App-Based Offline Verification for Hospitality Establishments
Dear Member,
It is hereby informed that The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced the Aadhaar App, enabling secure, consent-based, and privacy-preserving offline identity verification through Aadhaar Verifiable Credentials.
UIDAI vide a circular dated 30.04.2026 has recognized Aadhaar verifiable credentials shown, shared, and/ or verified through Aadhaar App as a legally valid mechanism for establishing identity of an Aadhaar Number Holder, in addition to other existing forms of Aadhaar.
Hotels and hospitality establishments may explore Aadhaar App-based Offline Verification for guest check-in, visitor management, staff verification, and other identity verification requirements, wherever applicable.
Members interested in adopting this facility may register as an Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE) with UIDAI on ovse.uidai.gov.in and leverage this secure verification mechanism.
