Subject: Update on Heal in India - Medical & Wellness Tourism Summit 2025

Dear Member,

Greetings from FHRAI!

We are delighted to share that on 17th July 2025, FHRAI hosted “Heal in India - Medical & Wellness Tourism Summit 2025” in New Delhi. The Summit included inaugural session followed by three panel discussions. The occasion was graced by Shri Suman Billa, IAS, Additional Secretary and Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, as the Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker along with Dr. Manoj Nesari, CMO (SAG), CGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, as Guest of Honour and Shri K. Syama Raju, President, FHRAI. The Summit also brought together more than 260 thought leaders and policymakers across healthcare, wellness, tourism, and hospitality sectors, altogether, emphasizing the need for a unified strategy to unlock India’s vast potential in the global medical tourism sector.

The Summit also marked the launch of its flagship report titled “Heal in India: Catalysing Medical and Wellness Tourism for a Healthier Global Future.” The report, prepared by FHRAI Centre of Excellence for Research in Tourism & Hospitality (CERTH) and KPMG India, outlines a transformative national strategy that integrates India’s clinical expertise with its centuries-old wellness traditions. It presents a comprehensive blueprint to position India as the preferred global destination for medical value travel by examining India’s competitive advantages, identifying key policy and regulatory enablers, highlighting case studies and global benchmarks, and proposing actionable recommendations for scaling up both allopathic and AYUSH-based wellness ecosystems. The full report can be accessed herehttps://fhrai.com/pdf/Report_Heal_in_India.pdf

Key recommendations and suggestions:

  • Need for a nationwide ecosystem built on trust, accessibility, and quality to support the growing demand for medical and wellness travel.
  • A unified national policy to provide a standardized experience for international patients as India's medical tourism sector is highly fragmented, with six ministries and multiple sectors involved.
  • International branding and promotion of Indian traditional healing and wellness measures to create an alternate economy.
  • Unified National and State-Level Heal in India Missions
  • Formation of treatment and wellness tourism clusters
  • Capacity building programs: Training facilitators and healthcare providers
  • Digital transformation: Unified medical records and AI-driven care
  • Global branding campaigns leveraging embassies and digital platforms
  • Investment incentives: Tax reliefs, FDI encouragement, health-tech grants

We are grateful for all your support in organising this Summit successfully and setting forth a transformative vision for India to become among the world’s most trusted medical and wellness destination by 2035.

It has been our continuous endeavour to support our members and the industry with timely initiatives. With this and other ongoing initiatives of FHRAI, we strive to keep you updated on recent developments happening in the dynamic landscape of tourism and hospitality. With your unprecedented support and encouragement, we aspire to continue our efforts going forward.

Looking forward to your continued support!

Best regards,

Jaison Chacko
Secretary General
