Sub: Urgent Submission of GST Notices Received by the Members
Dear Member,
FHRAI has been continuously following up with the State and Central Governments for ensuring a fair and transparent taxation system that can drive the growth of India’s tourism sector.
Taking cognizance of our recent representation on ‘Rationalization of GST in the Tourism Sector’, the Finance Ministry sought us to submit relevant information and documentary evidence regarding one of the key issues raised in the representation, namely: “Regularizing past GST payments on ‘as is’ basis”.
As you are aware, the hospitality industry has faced significant challenges due to linking of F&B rates to room charges and 18 % GST applied for F& B in the event of room rates crossing the threshold of Rs. 7500/- These anomalies in law have resulted in the issuance of demand notices by the GST department to hotels across the country.
In this context, members are kindly requested to share relevant information and documentary evidence regarding notices received from the GST departments (State or Central) claiming past dues.
